What is the difference between private lessons, semi-private, and conversation groups?
Private lessons are one-on-one lessons with a teacher, it can be scheduled at any time convenient for you, and lessons are customized 100% for the student, working on all language skills (speaking, listening, reading, writing, and grammar).
Who is it good for? For a student who wants to make progress fast, or who is shy, or who wants a flexible schedule, or who likes to have a very customized lesson around specific goals.
Semi-private lessons are for two people. Students must be at the same language level, have the same schedule, and it is best to have similar goals.
Who is it good for? For example, two moms who want to learn English during the morning when kids are in school, or two business men who want to improve their presentation skills for work, or a couple who wants to learn a new language for traveling.
Conversation groups are informal groups with minimum four students, maximum eight. Levels can be slightly different. Focus is on speaking and informal conversation. Minimum lower intermediate language level is required.
Who is it good for? For students who want improve their confidence and social skills in speaking in a group setting. For students who want to use the language skills they already know and learn about culture.
Are your instructors native speakers?
Absolutely! We only use instructors who are native speakers.
How long does it take to learn a new language?
It depends on how much time you have to spend practicing, how fluent you want to be, and how much reading and writing you want to do.
To go from absolute beginner (learning greetings, colors, and numbers) to intermediate (being able to have an independent conversation) can take approximately 120 hours. It depends how many times per week you have lessons, how much additional work you do at home, and what your goals are. Your own home language and the language you want to learn will also play a role.
How do you customize your lessons for me?
We build a coaching program around your specific goals, using real-life language that you can use immediately.
Example: your goal might be to be able to speak to your child’s preschool teacher. Your lessons would be very different from a business person who wants to be able to write excellent business emails.
